Family Owned and Managed Transport

PWL (Philip Wareing Limited) is a family owned and managed transport company established in 1975. We began life as a spraying contracting business and now close to 50 years on we are one of the largest rural transport companies in the South Island.  We have a number of loyal staff who have remained with us for several decades as well as many of Philip’s original clients who still use and recommend us today.

We are based in Methven near Mt Hutt, located halfway between the two major ports of Christchurch and Timaru and we are ideally based to service the South Island. We have a 24 hour unmanned weighbridge, storage and coolstore facilities as well as a Z fuel truckstop on site.

PWL began when Philip was working for Pyne Gould Guinness as a field rep and saw an opportunity to utilise his agricultural skills and contacts to start his own spraying business operating just one truck. Fast forward to now, Philip, along with his children operate seven transport companies providing a combined fleet of over 280 trucks. This truly means that no job is too big or too small; from carting straw & baleage or logs, through to picking up one carton in Christchurch on our daily freight run. We operate with care and professionalism by ensuring our modern fleet and our drivers are of the highest possible standard. Philip Wareing Ltd is known for its modern fleet which is extremely well maintained due to our own workshop with full time engineers and mechanics.
Safety is paramount and to that end we have a full time driver trainer and all trucks are equipped with the latest technology including onboard driver cameras.
